WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Windows Server 2003 was released May of 2003, about a dozen years ago, and Microsoft will end support officially on July 15, 2015. The countdown has started to the date where Server 2003 will R.I.P. (rest in peace).

Microsoft Licensing Audits - What do you need to know?
 

Over the past number of months, we have seen an increase in proactive licensing audits initiated by Microsoft. According to CIO.com, “…Microsoft is auditing customers at a 2 to 1 rate over other vendors like Adobe, IBM, and Oracle.” They go further to state, “Microsoft is auditing its customers at a brisk pace, and no company is immune. Five years ago, these types of audits were relatively rare and only encountered under specific situations. Today Microsoft absolutely does not discriminate—there need be no compelling event or “areas of concern” to trigger a compliance check on your Microsoft software.”

TIP #1:  Remote Desktop - CTRL+ALT+END by Justin Brunson
Many healthcare practices utilize terminal servers or remote desktop connections to access their applications. Many believe that by clicking on the “X” in the connection bar (shown below) that this will log them off. This actually only disconnects the session and doesn’t ‘end’ the session

TIP #2:  Can't Connect to the Wireless
When our clients call us and can't connect to the wireless, the #1 cause is that the wireless is off on the laptop.  Most laptops have a wireless switch which, depending on laptop make/model, is most commonly found on the left or right side of the laptop / tablet.  In some cases this switch is also found on the front of the laptop.
