Medicus Solutions Has Moved!

As many of you know, Medicus Solutions, Inc. has recently moved locations. We moved from our original location in Roswell to a beautiful new building in Alpharetta. We were fortunate enough to have secured a great space that allows for our continued growth and provides a more customer-centric layout for our entire support team.

Our new location is in Parkside Terrace West, just east of GA 400, on Mansell Rd.  This new location offers our engineers much quicker access to and from a major Atlanta roadway artery allowing for much quicker access to many of your locations.  Additionally, to support the Medicus culture of having an active and healthy work life balance, the Parkside Terrace building is adjacent to the Alpharetta Greenway allowing easy access for our entire team; we have a number of members of our team who enjoy going for a bike ride at the end of a workday.

Please make sure you have our new address:

Medicus Solutions, Inc.
3780 Mansell Rd., Suite 250
Alpharetta, GA 30022

I would like to send out a special thank you to all of our customers.  We wouldn’t be here without you and are very thankful.  Thank you for all of your continued support!

HIPAA Security - What do you need to know.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced the final rule that implements a number of provisions of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act which were part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, which strengthen the privacy and security protections for health information which were originally established under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 (hhs.gov).

The final Omnibus Rule becomes effective on March 26, 2013. Covered entities and Business Associates of all sizes will have 180 days beyond the effective date of the final rule to come into compliance with most of the final rule’s provisions, including the modifications to the Breach Notification Rule and the changes to the HIPAA Privacy Rule under Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).

WOW!!!  That is truly a mouthful of information all in a single sentence.....

What does that mean to your practice?
Do you understand that provisions apply to you?
Do you know what you and your practice should be doing about it?

TIP #2:  Can't Connect to the Wireless
When our customers call us and can't connect to the wireless, the #1 cause is that the wireless is off on the laptop.  Most laptops have a wireless switch which, depending on laptop make/model, is most commonly found on the left or right side of the laptop / tablet.  In come cases this switch is also found on the front of the laptop.

Windows XP 'End of Life' (EOL)

Windows XP was released August 2001; before Facebook or Twitter was even introduced to the world. Microsoft will end support officially on April 8, 2014 for Windows XP and Office 2003. Additionally, many Internet Explorer (IE) applications will be moving to and requiring Internet Explorer 9.0 to function; this is also not available with Windows XP.

We have all grown to love Windows XP and these technology changes make a large impact to us all and preparations need to start occurring for anyone who has and uses Windows XP in their businesses today.
